No one really expected Matt Grzelcyk to play as much as he has this season. Certainly, no one expected his role to have taken on so many forms.
The second-year defender, if all the blueliners had been healthy on opening night, wasn't even supposed to be a main contributing factor to the Bruins this season. Even as the team has gotten healthy, there would have been a tough decision to make on who sits if Charlie McAvoy hadn't gotten injured.
When he's back, Grzelcyk has made it difficult for the Bruins to make him the healthy scratch.
