    VINITA, Okla. - A fourth-grade student in Oklahoma has died after she reportedly lost consciousness during a physical education class Monday.
    Superintendent Kelley Grimmet told the Tulsa World that a fourth-grade student at Will Rogers Elementary School was resting after playing a five-minute round of basketball when another student went to tell the teacher something was wrong.
    The teacher told officials that the girl had her eyes open and was breathing, but she was not talking.
    Eventually, the girl lost consciousness and stopped breathing, the paper reports.

    Oklahoma fourth-grader dies following physical education class at school

    A fourth-grade student at Will Rogers Elementary School in Vinita died Monday after being hospitalized when she lost consciousness during a physical education class.
    Superintendent Kelly Grimmett said counselors from the district and other groups including the Cherokee Nation crisis team have been on hand Tuesday for children and staff at the school.
    "Basically we're just trying to get through the day today," he said, adding that counselors have volunteered to continue offering services as needed this week.
