• Minnesota Weather: After A Frigid, Blustery Morning, Temperatures Will Climb Into The Weekend

    MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesotans woke up Friday to a second morning of subzero temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills.
    Every county in the state is under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m. In parts of western and southern Minnesota, where a wind advisory is in effect , it felt as cold as 40 below in the pre-dawn hours. In such frigid conditions, frostbite can set in on exposed skin in just minutes.
    However, a warmup is coming. Winds are pushing warm air up from the south, and temperatures look to rise above zero around lunchtime and climb into the upper teens by nightfall.

    Wind Chill Advisory for northeast Illinois remains in effect until 10AM CST this Friday morning

    A Wind Chill Advisory for dangerous wind chills as low as -15 to -25-degrees across northeast Illinois remains in effect until 10AM CST this Friday morning. As of 4AM CST, sub-zero temperatures were occurring at several Chicago-area airport locations, and even with winds dropping of to 4 to 8 mph, wind chills have also dipped below -20-degrees at several of these sites (see current wind chills on the wind chill map below)
    If outside for any length of time this morning, bundle-up and cover exposed skin on your face and hands - frostbite could occur within 30 minutes on exposure.
