• Stocks rise on Wall Street as traders return to floor

    NEW YORK - Stocks surged on Wall Street to their highest levels since the business shutdowns took hold in the U.S. over two months ago, climbing on optimism about the reopening economy.
    The strong day for the market also saw the the return of traders to the floor of New York Stock Exchange for the first time since the pandemic took hold.
    The action was constrained by plexiglass barriers, masks and a reduced number of traders adhering to the 6-foot social-distancing rules. Those entering the NYSE have their temperatures taken and were asked to avoid public transportation.
